Mixografía is pleased to participate in the upcoming INK Miami Art Fair, where we are excited to present recent editions from a roster of celebrated artists. The event will take place in the courtyard suites of The Dorchester Hotel, 1850 Collins Avenue, from Wednesday December 5th through Sunday December 9th just two short blocks from Art Basel Miami Beach. We will feature new editions by John Baldessari and Alex Israel, and a selection of artworks by Jacob Hashimoto, Jason Martin, Ed Ruscha, and Analia Saban.
John Baldessari draws from his emblematic use of language and archival film photography in BLAH, his latest edition with Mixografia. The piece reads in bold text across three lines: “J SAID BLAH SNORE”. The text conceals a double meaning, assembled as an anagram containing all the letters of the artist’s name while also conveying his iconic linguistic wit. Baldessari uses motifs and messages that come together in an enigmatic yet familiar representation of the artist and his work.
Alex Israel’s Self-Portrait suite takes a visual and conceptual approach that is moored in Southern California popular culture. This simplified representation serves as a logo of sorts, alluding to the filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock’s silhouette profile drawing as seen in the introduction of his films.
Also on view will be Analia Saban’s Three-Striped Hand Towel with Hole and Unsewn Label. Saban repurposes the image of an Egyptian cotton hand towel worn down by use. Apart from the label stitched to the towel’s bottom hem, she primarily avoids the use of ink and instead allows the textured surface to speak for itself.
