Art21 Screening Society: Johannesburg

Mixografia

Mixografia is pleased to participate in the 2018 edition of the Art21 Screening Society. Please join us on Saturday, December 15th promptly beginning at 3PM, for a free public screening of the Johannesburg episode from the ninth season of Art in the Twenty-First Century. This film explores the studio practices of four contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds who live and work in Johannesburg, South Africa: David Goldblatt, Nicholas Hlobo, Zanele Muholi, and Robin Rhode. The film has a runtime of one hour.

The latest season of the acclaimed documentary series turns a focus on artists working in three major urban centers around the world: Berlin, Johannesburg, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Each of these films highlights the many ways in which artists working in specific cultural environments respond to shared histories and common circumstances, while also offering unique perspectives on an increasingly global world.
With each edition of its Screening Society, Art21 invites a wide variety of cultural, educational, and community-based organizations to host public viewings of the show in the months following its initial broadcast. Art in the Twenty-First Century airs on PBS in the United States.
